I originally saw this reblogged on Tumblr and just had to share.

I do not have the energy generally, or even at a mitochondrial level, to chase my fanfic dreams... But recently I finally posted a few decades-old WIPs (held back by my "perfect is the enemy of good enough" tendencies, sigh), proving that it is absolutely true: apparently, for some (many!) WIP fics, years/decades was my sustainable pace to finally complete them. And I'm okay with that. 🙂 Better late than never!

Привет and welcome to our new Russian friends from LiveJournal! We are happy to offer you a new home. We will not require identification for you to post or comment. We also do not cooperate with Russian government requests for any information about your account unless they go through a United States court first. (And it hasn't happened in 16 years!)

Importing your journal from ЖЖ may be slow. There are a lot of you, with many posts and comments, and we have to limit how fast we download your information from ЖЖ so they don't block us. Please be patient! We have been watching and fixing errors, and we will go back to doing that after the holiday is over.

I am very sorry that we can't translate the site into Russian or offer support in Russian. We are a much, much smaller company than LiveJournal is, and my high school Russian classes were a very long time ago :) But at least we aren't owned by Sberbank!

Sometimes I still get comments and kudos on Transfigurations and my other Harry Potter stories.

Of course I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, fandom belongs to the fans, and the outpouring of love and work and time that created the fandom was ours and remains ours. On the other hand, I don't like the ongoing link to someone who has traded in a career as an author for one as a full-time pro-hate activist.

I don't want to take the stories down. I don't want to orphan them. I just want to be able to take some pleasure in them again.

So starting with 2026, I'm making donations to https://transgenderlawcenter.org and https://give.thetrevorproject.org in honor of fanreaders. That way when the titles come up in my email, I'll have a nice, warm feeling knowing that they're connected with people who are doing something positive for the lives of trans people.

Paul Gross will have a cameo in the upcoming Season 2 of the CBC series Saint-Pierre (starring Allan Hawco, of Republic of Doyle). See this article. In the dance dance revolution poll, 5.8% of respondents had danced with other people that week, 1.9% with a pet or other animal, and 28.8% had danced on their own, while 46.2% said no or not yet. Making the poll prompted me to dance with my sister in the kitchen for half a Spin Doctors song, but I didn't change my vote on that basis.

We finished Pluribus, which was super interesting in terms of a) moral quandaries, and b) difficult personalities crashing into each other. Finished the available episodes of Stranger Things and season 3 of Dark Winds, both of which were a bit dark, hence the doodling.

I've just signed up for Neon (NZ HBO), so this morning I did my stretches while John Oliver slagged off the British monarchy. I'm planning to try the new hockey sensation, but I'm saving it for while Andrew is in hospital, and we don't yet know when that will be. (In the meantime, no spoilers, please!)

The event is called Rewrite A Fic. It's a multifandom event that gives you eleven months to rewrite a fic you've written before. The event rules are that the work written has to be yours originally, the fic you are rewriting has to be at least 1 1/2 years old, and using generative AI for the fic is strictly prohibited. The length of the fic doesn't matter. There are no content restrictions, but the use of proper content warnings is required when posting the work.
